question for a friend - E46 M3

a friend here is interested in a '03 M3

when running the title it showed the following:
1. canada - junk title
2. montana - clean title
3. texas - clean title

what gives? carfax attached.

note color differences in the car too -- it is actually a blue car.

Why would any even briefly consider a car with that kind of stuff on its CarFax?

Considering how often serious things do NOT find their way onto a CarFax report, any car with this much questionable stuff on its report would make me run quickly in the opposite direction.

The likely excuse is someone registered a stolen car using the VIN off of a legitimate car leading to parallel histories in CarFax.

It is possible that it's Carbon Black which actually looks dark blue.

No, it looks like it was title washed to get rid of a salvage title.

I wouldn't touch that car with a 50' pole.

I'm curious how it shows a Junk/Salvage title was issued and it was registered as a leased vehicle? I don't know a single bank that will write a lease on a salvage car.

What do you mean "this much questionable stuff"? I only see a color discrepancy (which could be explained by carbon black paint), and of course the salvage title.

Which is to say, "Other than that, how did you like the play, Mrs. Lincoln?"

"other than having a salvage title..."

every once in a great while, we have someone come in with a trade that has a "salvage" or "reconstructed" title. when they get their trade in value and realize that the car is basically worth $0.50 on the dollar compared to a regular one, I sometimes hear "but other than having a salvage title, it's a very clean car!" and then I ROTFLMAO.
