Yeah, but I liked it the most of any car and I miss it. The only thing I miss about the 997TT compared to the 987S is the crazy speed and the good looks. A 981 GTS would be even better.

It's kind of mesmerizing to look at pics of a 32-yo car that's in pristine condition

I know I’m a jerk (get over it) but I want a car like this in German racing white.

The red looks....incongruous with how the car was used in DTM racing.

The auction isn’t really moving which might be a good thing if you are planning on bidding.

What's your plan, FC? Did you register on BAT? Are you onboard for the ride?

I registered on BAT a few weeks ago.

Auction definitely stalled, which has me thinking, but I'm getting cold feet about it. I'll think about it tonight and make a decision on whether to go for it or not. But I think I'm giving myself a hard $30k limit and I doubt it will stay under that. I probably won't bid.

Good luck either way. The BAT one is definitely nice, but you might enjoy a non-museum piece that you could wrench on and drive more in the long run. Maybe this will be like the white 911 I got all excited about last year and set you on a journey to find one that is a perfect fit for you... or maybe this will be the one. Either way, I'll be watching the auction and routing for you.

Well, I'm out.

1) Timing: It's a good chunk of money to spend on a car during a pandemic when the economy could get hit hard(er). I also rarely drive as it is and won't for a while. To add yet another car is silly.
2) I love the idea and the looks, but I've never driven one. I need to do that first.
3) I am nervous about buying a car like that unseen.
4) Logistics of storing it without being a headache.
5) Not the right time in our lives for it. Seems like an empty nester's car. I rather have a Boxster.

If I were to buy it now, it would be for investment/speculative reasons or FOMO. That is not a good enough reason, I think.
