It's probably not hard but I didn't research it. I decided then and there that I wasn't going to pay up for a new/newish GTS when '13, '14' S's were somewhat plentiful (shopping in Spring 2016).

Another small factor was the prevalence of alcantara in the GTS's. Not bad at all (I had it on the GT4 for half of 2015) but it's not my top choice either; I prefer most non-black leather.

And now I am locked out of commenting. Will be interesting to see how this plays out. I'm not going to go away on this.
The next time they have a BaT thing here in Seattle - I will BE SURE to attend. I've done that in the past - will do so again.
It looks to me like he responded to your first question with a reasonable answer...?

Yeah - it wasn't him I was poking at... He was the beneficiary of what BaT did.
But - his car was not well prepared the first time - and not really any different the second.

But whatever... Seems to be a bit of a revolving door with BaT cars recently.

I saw that. Probably reserve not met again. The last six E39”s have been. That party is currently over on BaT.

The cars in the show were reused, recycled, modified, used mixtures of parts. There were special stunt cars made from older cars used in later seasons. It’s hard to pin down an “accurate” replica for that reason. I say, pick the car that has the parts you love and make sure it’s built well if you can’t build it yourself.

An “East Coast Barris Representative Owned” KITT replica sold last year at Mecum Harrisburg. It brought $60K if I recall. It was a nicer build of a season 1-2 car (with 4th season nose)
https://www.mecum.com/lots/PA0818-33...tiac-trans-am/

So these can go for pretty good money! Couple other thoughts: the center console is wrong for any season. The overhead console is wrong too, showing a mix of season 1-2 and 3-4. The overlay is missing on the tach display which is a shame. Front scanner is too tall relative to the show cars, but there are nice replicas made. Most replicas look like this one. This has a 1-TV dash (accurate for season 3-4 and my personal favorite) but a season 1-2 voicebox, which is weird. I think there might have been one car made with a season 2 dash and gauges 1-TV but don’t quote me on that.

Dash displays are probably the hardest thing to come by, especially season 3-4 one-tv dash sets. I think there’s only 2 guys doing it. One is unreliable and one in the UK who makes some nice ones. Scratch that – there’s a guy here in Virginia (His name is Don Colie). that will do a complete 3-4 dash for $5K and it’s BEAUTIFUL. Probably the best in the business. https://www.facebook.com/pg/Advanced...3155741/about/

Not sure what’s going on with the lower part of the driver’s door card – that strip on the bottom isn’t right. The seats are not the right material (which is VERY hard to come by) but they look nicer than the velour covers most have.

GLWA! So nice to see a KITT on BAT!
...and suddenly I feel better about the time I spend on all my dumb hobbies.

That thing listed just as I was done bidding on the 911 vert. I thought about being the first bidder on it for fun. at 1980, but was afraid I might win.
