Wow, yeah... I mean, at least they didn't make it obviously worse.

Sometimes the LCI is a big change and other times it’s minor. This one is pretty small, mostly about the interior tech updates. Exterior - front & rear bumpers, headlights, grill and maybe a little change on the hood.

Yes, relatively unscathed, depending on how you feel about ID8.

I did something that I haven't done in ages and actually went to the Build Your Own site for the 3 series and agree the LCI changes are truly subtle and nominal.

One thing surprised me is that the available color choices for '22 are pretty pathetic. You can get the ubiquitous AW as well as Sapphire black, then there is Mineral white, Mineral gray, Sunset orange and Portimao Blue. Looks like for '23 they get a silver variant judging by these new pictures.

The interior is looking so idk stark and FLAT. No manual E-brake, no physical shifter, no switches and a huge iPad dash. No design elements at all.

I suppose it’s kind of a push to get ready for that interior electric design philosophy.

I pretty much look at this car everyday being we have a M340 and I really don't see much difference in the exterior, the idrive 8 will be interesting, I look forward to trying it out.

Also I like that BMW is keeping the idrive knob which is better then what Audi has done by removing their MMI knob and making it touch screen only.

FOR NOW. I bet that is next to go in the cost cutting dept.

I am with you on that. I vastly prefer to at least have a minimum number of knobs or buttons for just the basic HVAC nuance changes that id7 allows, but at least for now as Theo stated you can still drill down using MMI with id8.

This proves a point that I have repeatedly been making…. A LCI does not always dictate a taillight update. In the event an LCI actually happens for the G42/G87 does not necessarily mean that the current taillights will receive an update.
