What's the latest consensus as far as the first oil change? Even though unscheduled and out of pocket should I have it changed at the 1200 mile mark, or shortly thereafter?

I follow what the car tells me, if it says I need an oil change which is does at least once a year that is when I do it.

agreed on the first oil change should be around ~3k just to be sure any initial wear material doesn't hang around long.

No break-in on the Rivian. Still boring to drive though. We do it on all our new BMWs. M still requires it so why not on everything else? Just saying… Treat it like you are going to own it forever… 5k oil services after that. |

How about the M Diff fluids? Change them at the same time as well?

I do not touch the diff fluid on non M diffs. The diff and auto trans fluid is “lifetime” aka, 100,000 miles. They only have a fill hole, no drain so the old fluid is sucked out the fill hole. BMW still requires changing the diff fluid on new M cars after break-in. |
