The whole cult of this engine builder really bugs me for whatever reason. I'd buy a 987.2 just to not have to deal with him.

I'm not sure. But this is one car I wish I had owned. Most fun audi I've ever driven, incredible sound, nice feel through chassis. Love that color as well. Worth every penny IMHO.

I've never driven one, but on paper the stats seem like it would be similar to an E90 M3, no? I thought the E90 had the better chassis than that gen A4, but maybe the RS4 has secret sauce.

Drive one. To me it didn't but then again I liked the e92 m3, so maybe my standards are low. The sound was incredible, I didn't feel like it lacked for low end torque. Reason (the whore) pushed me to a b8.5 s4, but honestly I preferred the b7 rs4, I just couldn't bring myself to buy one for daily duty and put it in snow and salt. It felt special, "it spoke to me". Not the looks, not the dated/flat console cabin, the engine, steering, shifting.
