New BMW M3 Sighting

While I was hanging out at the BMW dealership this morning they were taking delivery of a brand new M3 coupe.

Half the staff at the dealership was clustered around the car drooling over it.

I must stay, it looked good in person.

The hood bump for the engine is rather pronounced, though.

One of the techs took the car on a short test drive. As I heard it go by at an idle speed it sounded like an electric car. When he returned he blipped the throttle. . . much better.

That is all.

I won't lie, I think it would cool to have. But the 335i is almost too good to pass and fork out all that extra cash (especially if one does the 1K over ED invoice deal).

I still don't like the interior though.

I saw one this morning in the city, apparently being shuttled between BMW Manhattan buildings.

It looked really nice, but for whatever reason it didn't give me an automotive chubby.

I need to forward you some of the unsolicited email I receive each day.

as much as i 'appreciate' the $70,000 as tested m3 --i'd never spend that much money on that torqueless 3700lb wonder in this lifetime or the next.

you betcha i'd just get the CTS-V at 60k.

I was out driving for a bit today after washing the cars and my local dealer has an alpine white one with black leather.

It had every single option except for a hole in the roof. Grand total was $70K and change.
They also had a $15K markup on it. (Whatever)

Nicer looking in person for sure. Seeing as a loaded E46 M3 ZCP with every option including SMG was closing in on $63K, a loaded E92 for $70K does not seem that out of line.

I also stopped by the Lexus dealer and they had 2 IS-F's. Also better looking in person and also very nice seats. I would never buy one but its not THAT bad.

What I did find interesting was it sat realllllly low. There was hardly a one finger gap from the tire to the wheel well in the back. Much lower then the 03+ 4x4 suspension that came on the E46 M3.

Update: It sold with full dealer markup.

Heh, just looking through old M3 sedan threads. Funny how people's opinion change over the years.

I still won't track this car. 3600 with no brakes is a disaster waiting to happen at Button Willow in August. I am interested to hear Jeff's track report after the upcoming summer track season though. Since if you don't blue the rotors or ash the pads dealers have to replace them for free.
already posted track updates, stock brakes pads, just fresh super blue brake fluid

1 day C group at Laguna Seca, minor brake fade at the end of the day
2 day A group at Buttonwillow, no brake issues
2 day A group at Chuckwalla, no brake issues, tied in 2nd place for best lap in A group

about to sign up for Fontucky, CA speedway, this will be a test of the brakes

last year, it was hot. My sign-off instructor put his e92 m3 into limp mode but he left on the A/C.
