Next 911 uses Cayman 3.4
At least in the base model.
The S is up to 400 hp (with less weight), so that sounds fun. But with the good comes a lot of bad. Electronic parking brake? Yuck. Non-defeatible PSM? Double yuck. Actually, make that quadruple yuck. Panamera-themed interior? No. Freaking. Thanks. http://blogs.insideline.com/straight...arly.html#more Time to buy a 997. |

I'm really curious about the 7 speed manual. I'm looking forward to driving one of these at some point.

The interior doesn't bother me much. Those other details suck.

Ugh. I'm sad. Who knows what they will do to the 987.

It's a changing market folks, get used to it. Expensive cars are all going in this direction. Also, with 400hp, the company probably feels PSM will keep people alive. The Z4 has an electric parking brake and steering, and so shall the next Boxster.
BMW is rumored to be working on the Z2; a soft top two-seater; remember the Z3? It'd be nice if Porsche, too, built a basic car again, but it's not likely. I bet the next Miata will steal everyone's thunder, it'll be light, powerful enough for its weight and fun as hell to drive. So why buy the expensive as hell luxury sports car which further isolates the driver when you can buy the cheap and cheerful, and involving Miata? Aside from status, I can't think of a reason. Perhaps the Z2 will compete head to head with the next-gen Miata, I hope so, that's where the market needs to go for the enthusiast. My 2 cents, anyway. |
