I’m actually wondering if it’ll be a good opportunity to buy an LTW. (Not that I’m buying.) You don’t exactly see 5 of those go to market often.

Uh, yeah. They're pretty special cars. Quite a few meaningful differences from the regular 95 M3s.

But also, specifically, the thing that he’s pulling out to pick on them for is wrong.

Seemed like a good car to buy new since they were sittings at the BMW dealers. Not sure if I would pay the current price premium for them currently. If they had a real M engine maybe

It’s hard for me to get *that* excited about them. Worth double an equivalent M3? Sure. But the going rate is more in the 4-6X range. (Since LTWs that didn’t get turned into race cars are generally pretty nice and low mileage, the equivalent base E36 M3 would generally be in the $20-40k range.)

But special editions always go for stupid premiums. There were never many of these cars, and a lot of them got ruined. This is 4% of the total production run, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s more like 15%-20% of the total number of decent ones left.

Last I knew it, e36 ltw's were in the 60 to 80k range (and even that I thought was insane). What are they now? I guess I just don't understand car collecting...
