I like the m2 comp but not terrible excited about this. More bling for more money with probably not much better driver involvement and performance.

After seeing this I checked 18 pricing and they finally seem to be coming down. There are some deals now in the mid 40’s for cars with less then 10k on them.

This deal is insane. If it had a sunroof I would be calling the guy right now.

Cool car. Video smacks of trying a bit too hard.

Admittedly I was a bit harsh (I actually like this shade of blue). The M2 is the only BMW I have a pulse for anymore. But at the expected $85 - $90k sticker price it's way too steep for my blood (who knows how much ADM dealers will slap on them).

And if it comes across the pond in limited numbers (rumored to be 500) it's a good bet that most will be snapped up by collector's hoping that this is the next 1 M.

I'm with Theo in that I think an LCI '18 is still the ticket for this model. It's better looking in my eyes (not really a fan of the waffle iron, butterfly grill on the M2C & CS), and the exhaust note IMO trumps anything that comes out from the internals of an S55. Not that it will be known as the Twiggy model of the modern M Division, but it's more svelte than either the M2C & CS by 150 to 200 pounds.

M keeps slapping on more HP in their models, but with that comes a commensurate increase in weight. I wish they had the inverse philosophy. I'd love a 333 hp, 3000 lb 2+2 coupe offering. But that is a bonafide crack smoking pipe dream these days.

In the end, I don't begrudge them marketing vehicles like this. Even though they are out of the economic reach of the average enthusiast, they do keep the buzz going surrounding the brand.

Plus hope always springs eternal in that lightning might strike twice, and they will attempt another skunk works, pyrat project like the 1 M at some point.

The M Deuce coup stable of vehicles is not far off that formula, but the larded weight, and especially the numb and artificial EPS have to be addressed in my opinion before it will ever be seriously considered to be the spiritual successor of its predecessor.

That might have to come in the form of a Zero series or something, because it's probably not happening in the 2er series, even if they offer a CSL, which would be easily over $100k, and beyond the mortal reach of most of us.

I couldn’t imagine picking an N55 car over an S55 car. At least the S55 will rev all the way to the limiter.
