Easily THE messiest maintenance job

So I decided to change the differential AND transmission oil in my car. It took me about 2 hours (yes, TWO HOURS !!) to complete the job, from warming up the car to sitting here typing this.

"How in the hell did it take you THAT long ?" you may ask.

Well,

(1) I usually wait a minimum 30 minutes to drain ALL the oil out, and

(2) The cheap-ass "shampoo-style" pump that I bought for $9 is THE worst "tool" I ever used. Every time I pumped down on it, about 1/4 of the oil (an exaggeration of course, but it SEEMED like it) that was coming out of the bottle leaked out instead of it going to its intended location. My garage floor was a complete mess after all was said and done. So about 45 minutes of the total time was used to clean up my mess.

That said, could you guys recommend me a decent fluid transfer pump for this application, preferable one that doesn't leak and cuts this job's time in half ??

And yes, I even laid out a giant sheet of cardboard under the car to lessen the mess and make it a bit more comfortable to lie on, LOL.

I need a damn lift....

So, my recommendation is to use the big fluid pumps, even if it means transferring the fluid to a new container.

Although my DK13HLQ lifts the back end of an E30 so high that I was able to fill a diff by squeeze bottling the M1 container. I need taller jack stands!

The angle was such that my measured pour didn’t even reach the drain plug.

I just got one of the plastic pumps from Amsoil when I placed an order years ago.

https://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-produ...tle-hand-pump/

It works great, no mess.
