The whole idea behind the Tesla is that lots of systems that previously were manual can now be reliably automated and just run in the background. Lots of cars have gotten to this point—I don’t think I’ve ever touched the headlight control in my VW, and I rarely do anything but turn the Hvac on and off—but Tesla’s idea is if you don’t use these controls anyway, why have all these dedicated buttons for them?

It mostly works. The screen takes some getting used to, but it’s pretty intuitive and well laid out.

JVs other complaint about servicing is legit. Tesla service has been generally pretty good compared to anything else I’ve used, but DIY service is still not for the faint of heart. That said, it’s not like you can’t do it; there’s a whole community out there working on modding the cars and figuring out how to service them. Honestly it might appeal to JV once he’s done designing and building a race car in his barn.

Yep. But to robg's point, they did cripple the steering compared to the M2.

Yeah. I don’t doubt that guy has had issues, but also he sounds like a douche.

So I have a VIN, and in theory I'm scheduled for delivery this coming Monday.

The communication from my IDA has been very poor. I have a feeling things delay, but we'll see.

The web site also lists the $2000 NY State discount in the amount when computing the total amount I'm supposed to bring. I might refuse to take the car if they try to change that last minute. I changed my order to a performance version only after they explicitly told me I would keep that discount.

Interesting.

I just rebuilt my car. Price is down from last week, but still up from when I ordered (1200 more than I paid...).

Interestingly, the full self driving option is not listed...

How many people have to die? And how many apologists do we need?
