I suspect the Solstice could be made to be a bunch more fun given a little suspension tweaking beyond factory specs. More camber and less toe up front and a bit of toe tweaking out back could go a long way to making the car more fun to drive.

I think it's a shame that it came in so heavy and relatively underpowered, but it seems to outperform its spec sheet.

John
clyde and JST need to hang out with you more, you being the apparent voice of reason down in those parts.

The world as we know it must be coming to an end.

True, and there's little doubt that the Z0K package by itself (which no one has yet reviewed) will likely make the Solstice more fun.

You don't need a dedicated autox car to decide to be competitive. With very few mods, your car is competitive, and still very comfortable on the street. More fun than stock, actually.

A track car is a different story, I suppose.

what IS amazing here is that the completely OEM solstice is already on par with a well prepped benchmark car in class. and within the rules, you can tweak the solstice out of the box to be even better.

that is really appealing to me. there is so much moaning about GM engineering that these rare instances of efficient work are always lost in the mix.

Have you ever been behind the wheel of something that uses the Cavalier 4 cylinder? That crude engine gives the Model T engine a run for its money in the refinement and power delivery department. I've never been so unimpressed with a drivetrain.

I have been behind the wheel of my share of Cavaliers, and they do suck. Fortunately, the Solstice doesn't use a Cavalier engine. It uses a Cobalt engine, which is an entirely different thing.
