the M2 looks pretty neat (styling is okay). the question for me, though, is if the m2 will be able to surpass the performance of an e90 330. maybe so as BMW seems less inclined to worry about product overlap these days (e.g. x3/x5).

the boxster coupe is something porsche should have made about the third year into the model run --it's still going to sell and not poach too many 911 sales, methinks.

i HATE convertibles, so the boxster coupe seems really, really neat.

I hope the M2 will be more immediate and visceral in feel than the e90.

I wouldn't care that it wasn't faster than the e90 in a 0-60 deal.

But if it is chuckable, agile, and quick, I'll seriously consider getting one.

All of the M vehicles are faster to 60 than any of the "normal" production counter-parts (one exception: The Z8 does 0-60 in 4.9s I think).

The E36 and E46 M3s were both faster than the E39 540i. The E46 M3 is faster than the E60 545i.

I think it's safe to assume that the M2 will probably do 0-60 in very low 5s range (5.1?) to high 4 seconds (4.7-4.9). That leaves the E46 M3 to do 0-60 in 4.9, the E60 M5 and the E63 M6 will probably do 0-60 in about 4.5s, and that'll still leave the fastest production none-M car at about 5.4, a nice comfortable margin if you ask me.

i got excited when i read the article because i'm just waiting for the right BMW to buy. i just would like the "right one" to come along sooner than later.

i'm almost guaranteeing the e90 will surpass even the most skeptical peoples' expectations but that there could be an m2 is even better, from my standpoint. less "stuff" and luxury and more focus on the running parts of the car.
