Given the relative slowness by today's standards, I'd only have one as a collectible. I rather actually daily drive a 991.

Yeah, the 4-spoke steering wheel is a dealbreaker for me.

That may be silly, but it's the first thing you see when you open the door. And it's so hideous.

Steering wheels can be changed. Easily.

What is harder to change is the fact that this one is a C4S. Porsche still hasn't really figured out how to make a 4WD 911 drive as well as the 2WD version.

The wheel is an easy fix though. Get a Momo or even one of the classic non airbag 4 spokers. Beyond that I can’t fault the interior—I’ve always thought the 964/993 did a nice job of updating the classic 911 look, inside.

I'd agree. That car was never torquey enough to warrant AWD (250 lb-ft @ 5250 rpm ). It was helpful for year round driving in bad weather, but not for fun.

OTOH, I loved the Turbo. It wasn't fun to drive like a Boxster or Miata (or presumably a RWD 911), but I thought they did a great job harnessing all the torque smoothly while still keeping it reasonably fun. But honestly, that car was useless in the street. Limits were much too high with AWD and sticky tires - especially when dry and warm.

Yes, agree with JV and FC. I don't see the need for AWD in anything short of a Turbo, and I don't see the need for a Turbo on the street.

If you haven't in a while, it's worth taking a 964 for a spin. They are, by today's standards, slow. And their power delivery is (again by today's standards) quite peaky. It's a fun car to drive, but a 987 Boxster S will put it on the trailer at least in day to day driving.

I haven't driven a 993 recently (or maybe even ever?), so I can't comment on those. I suspect that they're better in this regard, but my guess is that they still feel pretty ancient by today's standards.

I drove a 964 once and thought it was pretty ponderous and terrible. Slow steering and just plain slow to accelerate.

Less than an hour to go and this car is still only at 45 (which is probably well below reserve). Bidding seems to be held up on failure to provide a DME readout. Porsche buyers can get hung up on dumb stuff.

Zach, you should buy this car.
