My S4 came with that and I disabled it. Car is quieter on the inside, but what you do hear sounds authentic.
Nate you are absolutely right, the interior has fake sounds and it is adjustable though you can only turn it off if you code the car (or is it decode ). In the idrive you have a few options, one reduces it, another makes it sport and another lets it adjust based on driving mode from what I remember.

When I mentioned the sound I was referring to the sound from the actual exhaust outside the car ... I was at the dealer when I picked it up and they showed me the remote start and started the car and it was cold and it sounded pretty beefy.

I hear you on outside noise. That's why I brought up the fake noise inside so you can get some of the outside sound inside the car if you disable the speaker.

Sounds like BMW and Audi do it the same. You can't fully disable to the fake sound on Audis, hence the pulled fuses on my and equ's cars.

I disconnected the sondaktor at the source in my golf. Think I forgot to reconnect it when I sold the car to CarMax. Whoops.

The turbo Camaro had a sound tube to, um, direct(?) some actual noise into the cabin and also had an electronic setting for fake noise through the speakers that could easily be changed through the regular settings menu and the changes were persistent across restarts.

The V8s do not have electronic noises, but some have sound tubes and some do not. Through 2019, all 1SS and 2SSs did, but in 2020, the sound tube was no longer installed on 2SS cars. I'm not sure if LT1s or ZL1s had/have it. It seems weird.

My car, like the other 20/21 2SSs has plugs in the intake and the firewall where the sound tube would have been located.

After our second snow last week... The house in the back, many, many steps above the lower garage that houses the 340i and the barely visible motorcycles. The boxster lives in the upper garage next to the house.

Indeed. There has to be 65ft or so between the house main level on the dead end and the lower garage (which is on an arterial blvd that heads down to Hoboken & Lincoln Tunnel). 54 steep steps from blvd to backyard, and then the basement is about two whole floors above the yard and then one more floor to the main. Both the upper and lower garage are extremely close to Manhattan, think first/last exit in NJ, but on the rare occasions that I'm driving or riding OUT of the city I need to think which side of the house I want to end up as they are on different sub-exits!

The light that is on is the basement (that actually gets decent natural light as it is above grade for the most part). It is below the deck that juts out of the kitchen. Sitting there feels like a tree house, up in the branches.

First photo is back of the house from the back yard. Then our deck and finally the view from the deck with my neighbor's deck stairs in the corner. Some manhattan skyline is partially visible on clearer days. Not sure why the thumbnails are sideways, the pics themselves are upright.
