The cool kids call it "overlanding" now.
I wonder if a weight distributing hitch would have prevented this. Instead of the weight pushing down on the hitch and the rear axle acting as a fulcrum, the downward force would have been moved forward more over the axle itself. Then again, maybe force at that angle would have been sufficient to rip the hitch off intstead. |

WD hitch could have helped . . . . .but I bet the dude thought they were too expensive (they are, but so was his Colorado)

I'd have ventured a trailer bounce could have done it, but that would be the opposite way. Perhaps the trailer bounced and then came down at the same time the front end of the truck was coming down. Too much speed, too much weight and bouncing might do it...
