I hate when people that post links to youtube instead of embedding. Especially when the link has no context. When it's just the link, you don't know the subject matter, who did it, how long it might be, or get any indication of what the "quality" may be from the thumbnail.

When someone posts just the link with ZERO FUCKING CONTEXT, they're asking me to trust that they have vetted all those things for me and that it's absolutely worth my time to follow the link. It almost never fucking is.

Same thing for posting links to web pages (although the URL itself can tell you enough occasionally and that's kind of acceptable).

When you embed (BBCode (without spaces)[ youtube]the-video-id-string[/youtube]), almost all that information comes across...plus, no one has to open another browser tab, window, app, or anything else...or close them and switch back after.

Yes, I may have a slight pebble in my prick about this.
