Adaptive driving beams are finally going to be legal in the U.S.

I drove a cheap rental Sentra a couple of weeks ago that had auto high beams, I guess this is different?

Lots of cars have auto high beams.
This is more of an adaptive nulling approach where you can keep the brights on without blinding oncoming drivers. |

I wonder if that will be easier now that it is not verboten. https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1398044 |

Yes, BMW calls it “anti-dazzle” and coding for it is disabled in the U.S. It can be activated via coding. I believe most BMW’s with adaptive LEDs have the ability.

Hopefully this tech can be retrofitted to all the LED-equipped Hondas on the road so one day I'll be able to see again when one of those is coming from the other direction.

Just posted this in the GTS thread before I saw this one. I hope the tech can be enabled on cars with the headlights installed. I am planning on using an aftermarket tool to turn them on in the e450, but I'd feel better if the tool was mercedes approved.

Per this article it appears they (Feds) have up to two years to implement changes. https://www.bmwblog.com/2021/11/18/b...ve-headlights/

I got our x5 coded today to enable the anti-dazzle headlights. They are amazing. I am quite surprised how noticably better they are. We have the top of the line laser headlights on ours and they were really good before, but watching them adjust on the fly and locally dim around traffic while keeping the sides at full bright is pretty cool
