If basic and required controls require capacitive touch control operation by a specific hand (center stack, console, side of the wheel, etc) how does someone without use of that hand operate the car? Think stroke survivor, amputee with non-capacitive prosthetic, etc.

What if someone kind of has use of that hand, but not an ability to locate taps/slides with the accuracy and precision needed for operation?

My mother is a stroke survivor without use of her right arm who drove traditional cars without issue for about 30 years following the stroke with cheap and simple adaptive equipment (left foot throttle pedal and, sometimes, a spinner knob on the wheel).

Soon after high school, I had a roommate that was born with weird muscle and bone issues that left his right hand bent nearly 180 degrees back on his forearm and his left hand in a similar, but not as severe state. These did not impede his ability to drive a traditional vehicle without extra equipment.

I have not been following Tesla's efforts to support the disabled community, so maybe they're way ahead on this and they have it all covered.

If they make adaptive equipment, then, cool. If they open the systems up to third parties to create/install third party adaptive equipment, then, cool.

If they say, "too bad," then, as the thread says, "Fuck Tesla."

If they are, as you are suggesting, fucking over the abled as much as the disabled by preventing all drivers from operating controls, then it's not so discriminatory as much as "Fuck Tesla."
Tesla's answer is that you shouldn't need to use the touch screen in normal operation. It's worked out automatically. Ergo, increased accessibility. Not decreased.

I'll pile on to this. F@&K Tesla! More specifically, fuck Elon. Yeah, I know there is a bright geeky guy who has done a lot of good in there somewhere, but the ego and the pumping random new shit just because it's new shit has to stop.

Why would Elon suddenly pump bitcoin (or dogecoin for that matter)? A random thing of either very high or perhaps very low value.. I understand how it works, and there are a million copies possible. It happens to be the first widely accepted cryptocurrency. It's not a currency, in fact it's a commodity. Would tesla also accept payment in silver? How would prices move?

At this point, I can't help but think it's a power trip for him. He tweets Doge and watches it jump, it's addictive. Even if you recently became the richest man on earth.

Mystified and quite annoyed. It's not the business of a car company to get involved in crypto-bubbles. But I guess if bubbles have made you, why not?

Yep - before Tesla got big he came across as a charmingly geeky and bright guy with some good ideas. Clearly success has gotten to his head and he’s long since gone off the deep end with all sorts of bs. Also, once you get that rich and famous it’s easy to surround yourself with sycophants who won’t check your bs.

Is Mercedes-Benz out there pumping gamestop or shitcoin or the bubble of the week? Not just irresponsible but unfocused. You're in the car business. Not in the business of pumping risky, questionable commodities. I get it he is getting free marketing and controversy and hype, as well as favorable opinion from the crypto cult, but how is that different from Old Trumpy manipulating crowds when it suited him?

I'm not alone in this. Also Dogecoin is up 1000% this year. What fun...

I guess the power and joy of tweeting is too great. The article doesn't say it but at this point, there is not a bubble this boy has not egged on: Gamestonk, Dogecoin, BTC, his own stock... And then the sinister side of it, tweeting BTC is bs in Dec, having your company buy $1.5B of it, and then tweeting you have it, increasing its value. Then again, he got off super-lightly on more stark manipulation, so why should he pay for this game?

Yeah, that's some BS. I know nothing about the SEC, but t smells like it ought to be investigated.

Has anyone else here read "The PayPal Wars"?

I read a LONG time ago and don't recall what kind of picture it painted of Musk, but I do recall that general perceptions were that it was a pretty accurate telling of the PayPal story. It was very well written and engaging.

It did a great job of describing the landscape at the time and I refer that mental model sometimes to provide context for how he operates today having had that formative experience back then. Not sure that's fair to him. I'm sure that I don't care, though.

Mostly, I wish there were more business books written in a similar voice.

Anyway, highly recommended light reading to anyone on this board who hasn't read it.

Why would it be outlawed? It's super useful having a currency that can be tracked that people think cannot be tracked.
