Yes. It's really a second-home lifestyle fantasy thing. Not a real life reality thing I would be happy with.

Short version: I have not followed the details, but this is my understanding: Buying the Jeep was an early step at trying to things to find happiness and satisfaction in her life that has led to the end of her marriage, abandoning her kids with her exhusband (although I'm not 100% sure that all finalized) to go rock America with Jeep dude she met online, trying to make a living pulling out stuck/broke vehicles in the western states, going full Q, and more.

Good for her if she's happier now, but...
Geez…

It will be short-lived, it usually is (trades often), but she will be fairly upside down this go around especially given that she is putting approximately 30,000 miles on annually. This Wrangler will be pushing 100,000 miles sooner rather than later.

Screenshot from a Automotive News of a subscription only article. Wholesale used-vehicle prices grew more slowly in December, might rise more in the spring
Cox Automotive's Manheim Used Vehicle Value Index rose 1.6 percent in December compared with November.

Reminds of of my thread from many years ago ... looking back what a mistake it would have been if we got one ...

I know of someone that recently ordered one. They were told it will take a year to get it.

Yeah, the Bronco sounds like the ticket here; fixes many of the problems of the Jeep while giving you the same Walter Mitty appearance and removable top. Honestly they look like a lot of fun, but the wait sucks.

yeah IFS allows modern steering rack which helps a lot. I hate wind noise on the freeway so removable tops are no go for me though.

The Used Car Market Will Crash

If you go over the leasehackr, the default answer to every post is Wrangler 4xe since it’s pretty much the only SUV right now that doesn’t lease horrendously. They’re quite popular right now - lease in the 300’s if you get the right discount as it’s one of the few leases where they pass along the 7500 EV rebate.

I thought that would/could be a fun car (local use and for inclement weather use).
Then I rented one. Enough said.
Thoughts perished. I was about 20 minutes into the rental when I realized I could live with it for the 3 or 4 days here, never in a million years would I purchase one.

My neighbor two doors down just got a Bronco, with the hardtop. Have not spoken with him yet about it, but it replaced an OG Bronco he had when we first moved in that he sold at some point last year….
