Nice 3.4L 987S

'07 987S

Cool! Yellow with the right wheel and seats. The wheels I don't care fore, but I'm sure I could swap. Nice belts too. And at a very reasonble price. Not the right time though.

I am fairly uneducated when it comes to P-cars. I know the various models (past & present). I have been interested in them for many, many years, but I was never a die hard like I was with BMW.

Quick timeline.

-987 line introduced in MY2005. 987S has 3.2L w/ 280hp.
-Cayman S introduced in MY2006 with 3.4L w/ 295hp (but more importantly, better torque, engine revisions, better exhaust, etc)
-In MY2007 987S gets the 3.4L from the Cayman S.

I'm basically looking at a Cayman S or 987S with a 3.4L.

You can't have it all. But I would like to have them. I can be very patient with this purchase. The right car will come. I can't seriously look until past Thanksgiving time anyhow and probably more like March.

Gottca! I need to test drive one again. The last time I drove Boxster was in 1997. I also would like to drive a '03-'04 Carrera, but there are currently none available in my area. Just as with the E39 M5 the maintenance on a 996 worries me a great deal.

I drove a great '04 996 and it was awesome. Just awesome. I haven't completely ruled out an '02+ 996 either but it's unlikely since I prefer the newer interior and mid-engine layout.

Xenons are an easy add-on later. I wouldn't pass on a car that was otherwise "right" just because it didn't have xenons.
