This thing. Roofing nail maybe?

I think I probably picked it up last night driving around. Noticed the car felt a little weird this afternoon going out for coffee; if I'd been paying attention I probably would have seen it was low before I left, but I didn't.

JST, technically you should put the 986 spare on the front of the 987 only. It's already a bit short of that diameter. The 987 also has taller rears than fronts. So the procedure when you get a rear flat is to move a real front to the rear (for the occasion) and mount the spare to the front. Anyway, for next time, and I doubt you did many miles like that.

Now, peeps, who checks their spare PSI twice a year? I generally see it fall to the 55-57 range even if I pump to about 62. Kind of a hassle, checking and pumping compact spares for all three cars, a small taste of switching to winters for all three.

Yes. It's done a total of about 2 miles. But that's good to know! I'll have to think a bit about how I'd actually operationalize that procedure with only one jack.

Though, OTOH, with an open diff and no eLSD, would having the tire be too short matter at all?

EDIT: I was lucky in that I inflated my various spares a month or so ago just by happenstance.

That’s not that big... I’ve had flats from larger objects before...

On the Boxster, a paint scraper blade embedded in the tire - was about 3x2 inches and close to the , so had to replace the tire...

In the Model S, I once had a puncture caused by a AA battery. You could still see part of the Energizer logo on the part that was inside (the outside part snapped off it was ground down...). The puncture was in the middle of the tread, but the hole was too large to patch and I had to replace the tire...

It's not that imperative on the 987. Much more so on the 981/718 as they add yet another half-inch of radius on top of the 987, front & rear.

You change the front first, then change the rear.

Yup, like a Sunday Times river crossing problem.

(Or you're near home and use the portable jack and a real jack)

It appears that my work computer blocks Tapatalk photos. I literally didn't know Tapatalk was still a thing until I got home and looked at this on my phone.

Bummer

No big deal running the spare on the rear. 99 percent of boxsters have an open diff which cares not about the diameter difference.
