Has anyone besides WDC driven a 718 with the 4cyl? I'm curious how it is in reality vs the ease of dismissing it because its a 'subie' engine? To me the 981s really needed more low end torque. I bet the 4 cyl fixed that issue (while potentially creating other ones).

I never find it needing for power and it is a really fun car to drive, I would never have thought of getting a Cayman or Boxster but last year I got one as a loaner car and loved it. As far as the sound, it is pretty beefy especially for a 4 cylinder engine. EDIT: I should clarify the reason I never considered the Cayman/Boxster is because I had a 2003 Boxster back in the day and the car was a little too small for me to be comfortable in, obviously the car is now bigger and I find it comfortable. |

I have driven one. The engine is fairly powerful, but the sound is just not good, and it feels gravelly. It to me ruins a lot of what makes the boxster great.

I’m wondering how many 4-cylinder 718s we’ll see on the used market, once the six cylinders start being widely available. But maybe I’ve already pondered that here.
I suspect they will put downward pressure on the 4 cylinder used prices... |

If Porsche kills the MT or goes hybrid for the next gen this won't matter to me, but I wonder if the GTS 4.0 sales convinces them to offer a detuned 911 (FI H6) engine for the Boxster S in the next gen. Wouldn't be a NA H6, but better than 4-cyl. Last edited by FC; 10-24-2020 at 02:32 PM. |

That’s a neat car! I’ve driven one and like it a lot, just curious what others think about how it compares to the 135/240.

Decent spec 987.2, low miles:
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...black-edition/ Not a huge fan of black cars, but otherwise this one has most of what you'd want (save the sport seats). "Black edition" is mostly BS though supposedly had an extra 10 hp. |
