It’s not good, but it’s not as bad as the 3 or 4. We’ll see what the M2 looks like.

Frankly, it seems like an evolution of the current one. I don't care for the direction in which they took the design. But at least no massive nostrils. I really don't like the triangular inlets on the grill, though. They are huge and look weird.

I am fearful that they might put the beaver teeth kidneys on the M2. After all they did it to the G80 M3. If it had the kidneys from the non-M 3-Series it would look vastly better.

It is increasingly evident that they need some new talent in their design department. The current group needs to be shown the door… Last edited by SCA; 07-06-2021 at 09:53 AM. |

I like most of it but the things I need to have a better look at when the official pics are released are: - How does the ducktail trunk area look from all angles. - Are the tail lights really that bad - again I need to see clearer pics and closer up The rest does not bother me that much knowing the M2 will fix the bad rear diffuser on the M240i and hopefully if they don’t murder the front end those wired triangles will also disappear. I think the biggest step up will be the interior materials. The F87 interior is pretty cheap in places. The worst being the upper door panel material. Not even soft touch. Not a fan of BMW’s current weird dual boomerang digital dashboard but again not a deal breaker. Yes bring on the G87!! As an aside I really don't like the new style M Mirrors. They have a history of being very stylized and “swoopie”. These new one’s look to sharp edged.

I think the G87 is a no-brainer for me, though I'm surprised that SOP isn't for another 18 months. Still, I vaguely plan to keep the F80 until I don't really need four doors anymore, and assuming 911 prices are still stupid then, a G87 makes sense as a last gas car.

BMW's standard procedure is to make the M3 and M4 both use the coupe front end. (This worked out really well on the E90, which gets the best front and best rear, IMO. Not so well on the G80.) I expect the M2 to have the 2 series coupe front end with the aggression dialed up.

Same thoughts here. 27 M2C manual. By the time that car gets old I will be also and I’ll just get some self driving car.

Maybe I'll buy a used base version when the CS and CSL models come out. There are sure to be folks can't wait for the souped-up models and then sell their base cars later.
Edit: I agree with Theo that the materials/features on the current 2 are a bit low-brow. But I love the platform and size otherwise. |
