The Sulastics give me unloaded ride quality that is near to what it feels like with 500lbs. in the bed. Apparently, there is also a hydraulic rear cab mount that GM put out that also improves things. I haven't gotten around to that, but it's on my to-do list.
At least with the diesel, the downside of the Sulastics is that they will allow a bit of axle wrap. All in all, I can live with the compromise, but it's something to be aware of. If you're ever in DC, feel free to swing by Adams Morgan and take the truck for a test drive. Also, I assume that you have installed a new steering shaft / bearing, and added a hose clamp on the column? The combination of the three has finally given me clunk free steering.

No, haven't touched the steering except for installing the red head steering box and new pitman, idler tie rods and the steering reinforcement kit. I do need to fix the clunk. It's getting annoying. I don't know anything about this hose clamp mod...
I have the morimoto mini version 7.0. What should I look for with the shield? I've already got the revised cab mounts. They fixed the 65mph vibration I had but didn't affect the ride. |

Literally put a hose clamp around the column where the plastic bearing goes in and tighten it down. Try this first before you do anything. It might work on its own. I believe that you should have the green bearing, but it might be plastic.
Shield adjustment involves tweaking the position to get the cutoff in focus and the color right. If they are adjusted to TRS spec, they will have a bunch of blue glare at the cutoff line.

Nick, funny that all the HID threads are about tweaking these things to make them have a fuzzy blue cutoff line, rather than making it sharp with no color.

You can also tweak them for a nice yellow glare which gives you a little bit of light for signs, and isn't nearly as annoying.

Also, if you have a 3500 SRW, you could put in the 2500HD leaf springs. If you've been considering a Ram 1500, the loss of load capacity shouldn't be an issue.

I realized I needed to have an alignment feature in the rear caps so the projectors couldn't rotate due to vibration. The projectors came with these washers that have three radial "ears" and also have a feature that lines up with a notch in the threaded rear mount built into the projectors. So I turned a recess and milled three grooves that can accept that washer.
After many test fits I roughed up the back surface of the reflector housings and JB welded the delrin caps to them, with them indexed correctly. This gives you an idea how the washer indexes and locates the projector, and how the rear caps don't allow it to turn. The final test fit before I seal up the hole for the high beam solenoids. I also mounted up the shrouds. |
