Good to know!

It’s a neat color, and a nice departure from the usual boring Audi wagon colors.

I go back and forth about three pedal. I think if I got an auto wagon, I’d be pissed that my 2 was also an auto. And if I got a wagon with a stick, I’d be pissed that it had the stick and not the 2. It’s the wrong mix...

Fun car should be stick; practical car can be auto. And, with my iffy knee, the workhorse car should be the auto.

The 2 isn’t going anywhere, so no easy fix to sort it out.

So why did you rule out the GTI? Too small?

It’s still on the radar. And, oddly enough, the same dealer has a new Audubon version with a stick marked down to about the same price as the used Alltrack.

But, really, for $36k, the size of car doesn’t offer enough of a contrast in size from my 2 series.

Part of the desire for a wagon/SUV would be road trips with my son and maybe one or two of his pals (post-COVID). They are all giant teenage boys.

My son just turned 14 and is 5’10” with lots more growing to do.

ah wow. In that case, is an A4 allroad even big enough? I think i've seen used Q7s with the 3.0 engine in that price range as well. Rented one last year, and its a great road trip vehicle. Huge amount of rear legroom, super comfortable, quiet, etc. Since you have the 2 series, maybe getting something that's not even trying to be sporty could work...

I still think that renting a car, even if Silvercar isn't available locally, is your best bet for road trips.

Ha! If, I were going to buy an unavailable Euro-only wagon, it would be the M3 Touring.

However, this is in my area. No sunroof:

But, more enticing is this.

Perfect spec for hot ATL. Costco has a $4,600 discount these days on Audis. Plus $500 Costco card. Although that really only covers the tax. And then there's the outgoing model year depreciation hit...

I like them both. The Audi is a bit pricey for the size. OTOH, that VW looks like a great deal.
