I would comment that one problem with the AKG is that it's rather generic and doesn't have the right geometry in, well, pretty much any application.

I have played with one, but not actually driven with it.

From that article I learned there's a thing called an E46 Compact.

I had the Bimmerworld plates welded in before I bought mine. It might not be enough in the long run to prevent cracks, but there are a few people out there working on additional/alternative solutions. I'm curious to see how they develop.

No. Sweden, Australia. "VinceSE2" on m3forum seems to have the most carefully designed product, and it's available for purchase in both weld-in and epoxy versions. They are not small-time installations and require cutting some metal out before putting it back in place. Of course, it's so new, who knows how it will hold up?

and they say they never repaired one . . . makes you wonder if it is all in jest?

They haven't repaired the E46 limo edition either, cause there isn't one

I'll most likely end up at RRT sometime - hopefully before it completely removes itself from the car.

Wasn't sold in the US... similar to the E36 compact that was sold here for a while -- a hatchback with a shorter rear end... it also had Lexus-inspired mirrored rear lights
