I don't like your corrosive attitude.

Maybe I should just go back and read the thread from the beginning, but...
JV, whether or not you have a lift, what do you use for jackstand points? Are the stupid plastic blocks the only safe places to rest the car, or can I use the front frame rails? |

I use the factory jack / tie-down points (plastic blocks). I wouldn't trust the "frame" rails.

It's fine with Esco or similar jack stands, but there just no reason not to use the stock jack points on an E46.
Jacking up a 993 is a terrifying thing. They literally call it the "teeter-totter" method.

Hey, uh, Matt? I ... "borrowed" your clutch slave cylinder.
I'll buy you a new (BMW) one. |

Yeah...I ordered a pair of Esco stands. My Craftsman stands might technically be "fine" under the jack points, but their rectangular shape and my stands' V-shape totally give me the heebie-jeebies. No thanks. I also got a pad for my floor jack so that I can chuck the splintered wooden block sitting on it right now.

I have to say, I can't wait for a post-makeover review. From both JV and Matt.
This is going to be one sweet time machine car when it's done. |
