LS6 Boxster?
http://boxcar-racing.com/forum/index.php?topic=181.0
Brad Roberts has successfully swapped in 3.4L and 3.6L Porsche engines, and is working on a 4.1L big bore stroker motor. But if you're gonna go big, why not use an LS6? Sorry, no more details other than this post, but if Brad says it'll fit, I tend to believe him. |

i'd like to know the weight difference between the 2 motors, also.
probably 200lbs? 150lbs? is it compact enough to fit in there? i have never seen the engine bay of a 986, but it's probably only sized for boxer engines, no? haven't people dropped ohv v8s into 911s, also? THAT or this project sound like a lot of fun.

I was shocked that Brad said it would fit. 3.4L Boxsters are old hat now, 3.6L conversions are starting to gain ground and before too long they'll be commonplace as well. I imagine a 3.6L Boxster would be pretty ridiculous.
An LS6 would make a pretzel out of a Boxster chassis, you'd need a cage at the very minimum. But what fun! |
