While I think I'd like to get one, they are too new and way outside of our price range. However, I stopped at the Mazda dealer this morning to get some of their special FL-22 coolant for the Miata and of course they had a few CX-3's. So I sat in one.

Wow, talk about a nice interior. Not sure what trim level I sat in but everything felt and looked great. Reminiscent of our E46 but with better styling.

Probably the best interior I've been in in years with the exception of Kognito's S4 vert I drove a few months ago.

Hopefully, Mazda did good with the rest of the car.
all the new mazda interiors are very nice

I thought the same with the new Miata I got to drive in with my first Jason last week. I really liked it. I actually like the whole new Miata pkg, well beyond the fact it needs more power.

Yeah. It's one thing to see them in photos, it's another to see them in person where you can get in the car and touch everything.

Similar to how some cars exterior design and styling work better in person than they do in photographs.

Which is one thing that surprised me a little about the CX-3. It seemed larger in person than I was expecting, given it's built off of the Mazda platform. It could also have been the tight urban dealership I went to had a very cramped show room.

In any case, I've really liked Mazda's direction they've taken with the last several cars. From the CX-5, latest Mazda6 and Mazda's, to the ND Miata, and now the CX-3. They will probably make for some awesome used cars for me down the road. But right now (unfortunately) everything is too new and thus out of our budget. Grrrrr.....

My wife still hasn't landed a new job yet so the Miata replacement is on hold. It's given me a lot of time to ponder the next move and I can't help but keep coming back to the Nissan JUKE.

It's weird and fugly but . . . it sorta works for me.

Basically it's a light-ish 5-door compact-isn hatchback with with a torque vectoring AWD system and a DI turbo motor that's jacked up about 2" on a sport tuned suspension.

Oh, and they're in our price range.

Out of curiosity I made a spread sheet of the power-to-weight ratios of the Juke, our Miata and Forester, Focus (that I was also considering), etc. And the Juke was pretty close to on-par with the Miata and did much better vs. our Forester and the Focus. It was heavier than the Miata (duh), an extra passenger heavier than the Focus but 200 lb. lighter than the Forester. Compared to the Miata it has more power and torque. And while the torque to weight ratios were identical, the Juke had 27 more ft-lb and it came in at 2000 rpm vs. the Miatas 5000 rpm peak torque. The result was (per edmunds) a slightly quicker 0-60 time. And I remember from the test drive (way back when) I did notice the Juke seem to have some nice pull from the motor. Anyways, I like the Miata's zippiness and it should be similar in the Juke.

So . . . I'll keep my eyes open for other options but between price, practicality, size, and fun / interesting the Juke seem to be at an odd intersection.

Hey, more power to you if it works for you and your needs, and you can be happy with it. Seriously.

As for me, I don't know if you could pay me enough.

You're jiving about the juke, right?

lol, forgive me for rocking the Juke box (and I don't like George Jones). If it checks all or the majority of your boxes who are we to influence you otherwise. Just promise us that you'll try to refrain from posting pics of it in the long running pics thread please.
