I drove the N55 version and contemplated buying one.
The steering was way better than the standard 2-series, and above the bar for being tolerable. Still not on par with the Porsche though. I just felt like it didn't make a lot of sense as a car for me since I didn't need a back seat. If I wanted a somewhat stiff and fast car, why not buy a porsche? So I did that instead. But if you need a back seat it could be fun I suppose? |

JST, why not
Sell: R & Boxster Buy: Equ's 5er for family vehicle, 911 for you I generally recall you having fairly sterile praise for the boxster each time you drive it. Things like, "After driving it I realize it's a great car" and "It's really all I should need". I felt the same about the Cayman. I had a great appreciation for it as a vehicle, but on any given day I rarely looked forward to driving it somewhere. |

I actually like the Boxster a lot. I wish it were a 987.2, but beyond that it’s great. And I’m kind of the opposite of JV—I love having a convertible.
My problem is that because the Boxster is a 2 seater, it’s really hard to carve time out to drive it. A 911 is something I could use daily. The top wouldn’t go down, but I’d get to drive it a lot more. That plus the cost issues (a 911 would be...let’s say 45-50, whereas I might get 23 for the Boxster) means I don’t really see a 911 as a third car. If I’m getting a 911, it’s a second car. |

M2 has a surprising amount of space in the back. Might work, actually. Couldn’t drive one because “it might rain,” and then it turned out there was a recall on the airbags so they can’t sell it anyway.
Drove a Giulia non-quad. It’s a fun car but the initial step-off behavior of the transmission drove me nuts. Like there’s just this weird-ass pause before anything happens. I really liked it otherwise, though they really need something between the 4 and the monster twin turbo V6. |

Yes, right on Giulia.
It’s gotten to the point where if I want to buy a new car, I don’t have a choice anymore. Other than the 2 and the G70, there’s really no manual option worth considering. |
