Questions on E46...
1) My clutch pedal rubber cover is broken (cracked and hanging). Roughly how much am I looking at for SS pedals and what is a good place to get them from? Or should I just request a free replacement under warranty (is this even covered)?
2) I'm on a quest to wear out my brakes and I think I'm getting there (I have 4.5K miles and ~1.5 months left on the warranty). What is the minumum pad spec for brakes on a 330i? Or do I have to wait for the sensor to get triggered? I'm going to guess I have ~4mm in the front pads and ~3mm in the rear pads. 3) My brakes need a bleeding. No big deal. I could do it at home, but if it is covered, I rather have them do it. It was first done at ~28K miles because my car was "2 years old" even though it wasn't (only about 21 months). So, can I request a free bleed job since it certainly has been two years since the last bleeding? |

FIgure out how much you've actually got left. Nominally, you need the light to go, but you can complain about noises/groans, etc.

That's funny. I'm in the same situation. I have about 3mm in the rear, and 4 in the front. I have a few more months though, and 7K more miles.
I'm not even going to try to get them to replace them without the light coming on. I'm just hoping they'll replace all 4 once the rear trips. I don't want to have to go back twice. |

To answer the questions:
1) I'd ask them 2) I think you need to wait. They probably won't change them without the light tripping. If you ask them to inspect them for you because you think they need changing, they may charge you for that labor if it turns out they are not below spec. The bentley says 3mm, but I'm not sure what BMW's rule is. 3) I'd ask |

The dealer replaced my brakes and rotors at 48,700 miles without the light being illuminated. I brought it in for other service and asked them to check the brakes again because they were getting close the last time. Service writer looked at odometer and stated 'I'm going to note that the brakes are making a grinding noise, OK?' I didn't disagree.
They also replaced the lower control arm bushings in the front.
