New (G90) M5 to be 5368 lbs (!!!)

https://www.motor1.com/news/709142/2...UoWxBPCFp4uu50

Holy crap! That is a full 1,000lbs heavier than the F90.

I will say that the F80 & F90 were a serious effort by BMW to drop weight with both of those models being at least a little lighter then the previous ones. With the G80 they added a bunch of weight (~300lbs?) but the G90? Wow.

I saw that on Instagram this morning, but I did not suspect anybody here would have any interest. It is a hefty

Below is the weight of a new 530 taken by SavageGeese.

How much does the hybrid battery system weigh? Can't be THAT much.

G80 weight gain was more like 400 lbs.

5300 lbs is about what the X5 hybrid weighs.

Yep. My car is under 4K pounds. But, it is a big luxo cruiser for the most part. Still really happy with it. Perfect for someone who doesn’t drive much, but wants all the best experience when I do—comfort, sportiness, etc.

Two years into it, and there really is nothing compellingly better. It was sort of a spontaneous choice. But has been a great fit for my needs.

That's awesome. It's how I feel about my 1er 7yrs in. Hope you're still that happy with it for a while.

I just kind of assume that at this point the 5-series is a better looking X5. That's where the R&D money goes. Sedans barely justify their continued existence.

yeah the article even says that apparently even the i5 M60 (full EV) weighs a couple hundred pounds less than the M5!

When you're talking 5k pound large super sedans, I think i'd prefer an EV at that point. If you're going to put a V8 in something at this point, it'd better be full of character and available with a manual or whats the point. Only Cadillac seems to understand this.

Yep, with the X3 & X5 being the bread & butter machines that is what they mostly focus on, SAVs.
