I Bought A Stupidly Rare Manual BMW X5, And It's A Far Better Car Than I'd Anticipated

I remember a friend giving me a ride in that generation x5 circa 2002. As a passenger, I couldn't believe how flat it went around turns; at the time I had a a4 2.8 quattro (b5).

Been a while since i've been in a 1st gen x5. IIRC, didn't they achieve that flat handling with by using a very stiff suspension setup?

I think so. We had a first gen X3, which was skewered in reviews for being so stiff. I liked it…

I remember driving one of the first group of 4.4 X5's at one of those Susan Komen cancer events. What I remember the most about the drive (I also volunteered to drive vehicles to their next event) was the very comfortable seat that had way to many things to adjust.

The seat reminded me of a 1978 Lincoln Continental
