I loved my 135i. One of my regrets.
I just turned it in. I'm going to miss it, over the last five days I really connected with it. It reminded me of BMWs of the late 90s / early 2000s, engaging, ergonomically correct, comfortable and fun. Both my wife and I felt right at home an very much enjoyed the ~750 miles we put on it. I found it really good looking too. I wouldn't want Black Exterior/Black wheels, but the overall design had presence in a good way (to me).

It was right in the middle between the sterile precision of the 991 and the aloof puppy dog playfulness of the 135. I did get more comfortable with the seat as the week went on and learned how to get in and out without wrecking my head, so minor wins there. I'm 100% sure the B58 + 6MT will fix the minor quibbles I had with lack of power and being in the occasional wrong gear.

I'd be interested if anyone else gets a chance to drive one and hear their thoughts. When I get back, I'll touch base with my BMW sales guy and see how allocations are playing out locally. Again, I'm not in the market until next spring, but from the sounds of initial order banks they're selling strongly:

data/notes for 2025 Z4 M40 US
0 in stock
4 available 150-in transit to dealer 3mt/1auto
110 SOLD 150-in transit to dealer 91mt/19auto
186 SOLD 111, 112 157mt/29auto
169 *allocations 111,112 163mt/6auto
*47status in the order bank dealer will place order manually if they have a allocation. The allocations my dealer received didn't automatically pull from the order bank.

This is the color combo I'll opt for. This is an early delivery in Austria.

That’s a great color combo. You don’t see too many Z4s but my neighbor has one and the proportions are striking. If I didn’t already have the Boxster I’d be looking hard at it.

It’s one of the best looking BMWs these days (an iterative design that is not so polarizing). And I am reading very good things about the manual transmission. The only knock I discern so far is that the suspension maybe be a little soft? But, limited pool so far.

If I had the discretionary money for a second, fun car, this is what I would order.

Definitely. The best part is that when you see one in that color you know it is a 6-speed manual, although only afficionados will recognize that.

And it's a BMW, so nice to save the company and the manual at the same time.
