Congrats and very cool! Have yet to see that color in person yet (most rivians seem to be blue, green or grey).

Thanks to those for the congrats.

I took it to BMW and Porsche this morning to let those that I know well have an opportunity to check it out as they knew I was expecting it. Literally everyone at BMW from the front of the house came out to see it. A select few got to drive it, one in particular with 40+ years with BMW and the other a former BMW Master Tech, now a Porsche tech, both got out highly impressed.

Random thoughts… The EV novelty wore off quickly, within two days in fact. Apparently you eventually become immune to those 0 to 60 launches accomplished in three seconds. I now concur with the majority that Electrify America sucks! The charging infrastructure for EVs, if it is not a Tesla leaves very much to be desired. Most of the time the EA chargers are inop or not functioning properly. The interior fit and finish of the R1T is nearly perfect and currently with no rattles or squeaks present at 115 miles. QC for the exterior needs immediate attention as there are to many things slipping through the cracks with a vehicle that is now pushing $100k.

I truly hope that Rivian makes it because the R1T and the R1S have a huge amount of potential and will be amazing once the quality control issues are resolved.

Edit: I have not heard a word from my Rivian Guide since delivery nor a peep from anyone else at Rivian other than Rivian service in regards to the three service tickets that I have submitted via the app.

As mentioned in the other thread, I’d recommend keeping it plugged in at home, even at 120V - will be very slow, but you may be able to avoid Electrify America a bit…

Speaking of EA: our CCS adapter arrived last week, and we attempted to use an EA site. First stall I pulled into was not operational. Moved stalls, and the second charger connected (the handshake — charger was ready to charge), but the card reader was not working, so I couldn’t start charging. Tried a 3rd charger and it wouldn’t connect to the car. I gave up when a Mach E pulled in - talked to him for a few (he also has a Tesla) and he said the EA chargers are finicky. We then drove to the Supercharger a couple miles away. Tesla really has nailed the charging experience…

I’m going to go try another CCS this afternoon to test the adapter — we got it for our roadtrip so want to make sure it’s usable…. Edit -successfully used the CCS adapter. This was at a Volta CCS charger at a mall near us that gives 30 min free charging. It’s only a 50kW charger, but that was enough to add 85 miles of range in 30 min. Glad the adapter works!

I tried the Rivian travel charger plugged into a 110. Gained 14-15 miles over 12 hours. Truthful… it is not worth it to me as it is literally lost in less than 15-20 mins of travel.

I'm going to be really interested to get your perspective on real world EV living over the next month or two. I'm curious how it works as a truck, what sort of range you get driving normally and general "car-usablity" vs ev novelty.

I hope it's great.

Sounds like you need to either get a 14-50 outlet installed (Same as used for a range or oven) or a dedicated charger…

Are you going to keep the truck or flip it?

The 7 day, 1000 mile guarantee is quickly approaching and I may just return it for a full refund. While as good as it is, I have not become attached to it. I have also fully confirmed that I am solely an ICE guy.

Edit: The local Porsche dealership made me an attractive offer for it on Friday, but it is impossible to sell when you do not have a MSO or title. Rivian is not delivering tags, registration, and title for nearly 90 days. Many think it is deliberate in an attempt to hinder resale.
