Sweet! Just in time for the perfect fall convertible weather.

I can get on board with that.

Does Porsche not require a break-in oil/filter change?

Nope. Which frankly, is surprising.

I just did the oil change. There are a few good DIY videos so I am not about to reinvent the wheel. A good one I found, although overly lengthy, is this one:

A few comments:

The GTS cars do not have the diffuser panel nor the intermediary panel to remove, so it's a bit easier. That said, that panel is large and annoying to remove given the number and variety of fasteners. Also, the panel goes right around the rear lift points, which can be a pain if one has a ramp-style lift.

The oil plug is literally the same part number as in the GTI, so I already had a few. All else is pretty standard other than the filter location being a PITA. It's actually a bit finicky to get the filter housing out, but it is doable.

What gave me a bit of a panic attack is that I started seeing smaller oil drips well ahead of the oil filter location and I could not understand what was happening nor find the source. I came to the conclusion that residual oil drips from the filter location were hitting an aluminum member with a slight angle, making the oil drips skip forward. As soon as the new filter was on, the mystery drips went away.

Nothing too difficult, just more to do and more annoying than an oil change on a BMW where it's all in front of you. My life was made significantly easier with a 4-point lift, of course.

I added 7 quarts and checked the level with the car in accessory mode. It was in range but close to the "min" mark. I started the car for a minute and checked again - same level. I added another 1/2 quart. I'll check again after a decent drive and kept the rest of the 8th quart in the car.

Thanks for that. I won't need to do an oil change in my shop for like two years

Also wanted to say that I prefer the instrument panels of the 991 gen 911s and the 987/981s.

BTW, I just read that last month someone was quoted $1,065 at the dealer for an oil change on a GT4.

I bought genuine parts and the specified ($$$) Mobil1 0W-40 ESP X3 all for around $100-120.

I certainly do not dislike this in my 997.2.
