That's all I'm referring to... I find the front end of the E39 to be like a big fat clunky stub. It's just not at all attractive.

The E39 (and E46) interiors are far and away better than any current bimmer's interior.

To me, the E60 looks like those BMW-wannabe front clips that we've all seen attached to various Honda products.

I drove a 530xiT and felt no love or lust for it. It does have good power in a predictable, somewhat boring way. On the other hand, the e90 325xiT is a hoot to drive. I have to spend some time at the wheel of the 540iT and see how it feels. It is MUCH bigger than my 330i. I have driven an e39 528iT and found it surprisingly zippy and nimble for a larger car. So, I expect to like the v8 version.

While this thread wasn't specifically about the E39 vs E60, and I'm not crazy about the catwoman thing on the headlamps, I do think it has a more attractive front end overall than the E39.
