I don't think I've ever seen a yellow 944...

If this thread doesn't die soon, I'm going to be tempted to post my own list....
even though it only has like 3 rows. |

Indy do you have pics of the first three listed. Wasn't the 80 TA a 301 turbo?

Here's my list. Thought about doing the Excel thing, but it wouldn't be worth the time and effort due to such a short list (kinda ashamed to post it up, but what the hell....)
1980 Chevrolet Impala (parent's) - this is the car I learned to drive in. 1984 Chevrolet Chevette (parent's) - this is the car I learned to drive a stick with. Gutless 4-banger that took forever to reach legal highway speeds. 1980 Toyota Corolla SR5 Liftback - my first car, bought at a great price from my sister. 1988 Ford Ranger XLT Supercab 2WD - my first vehicle that I bought new. Quite a death machine in the snow. 1987 Honda Accord LXi Liftback - another used car from my sister. Probably still running to this day. 2002 BMW 325i - the second car I bought new. Far and away, my favorite. 2000 Honda Odyssey EX - bought CPO in San Diego for my g/f. Probably the most comfortable highway cruiser I've owned. 1994 Chevrolet Silverado - my beater that's only used to pull my boat and in severe winter storms.

Me neither. That's where the "near as possible" comes in.
It was actually Platinum metallic like that on the below 930. Really nice color. I just couldn't find anything in Excel that came close and didn't look sucky. Yellow might have looked pretty cool if it were an option though. It was very unique for one other reason though in that it didn't have a sunroof. I was scraping my pfennig's together and could only muster enough for a stripper. I was living in Deutschland at the time and had to pay for it via Pentagon Military Sales in DM's. I was literally checking the conversion rates each day until it was where I could convert my greenbacks to Marks. Then I had to open an account at the local Sparkasse, and a while later have them issue a cashier's check for the purchase amount. Major PITA, but no regrets because that was a car that became the benchmark for geerbox, steering and handling. Always wanted to get an 'S' or 968 later, but could never afford it.

The T/A was the 305, 5liter Chevy V8 detuned to 150hp. Silver with a Screaming Chicken like below and Automatic tranny. I was a real poseur back in the day. The 944 was hotter than the one below in that once I did get some coins I modded the hell out of it. I got rid of the base cookier cutter rims and put silver BBS rims on bigger rubber; added a rear valance and tasteful sideskirts that gave it a nice stance and proportion.

That 76 Mustang ... ughh, what an awful car, and such a depressing fall from grace of the line of just a few years earlier.

In defense of Excel and colors everywhere, any fair representation of that color would be sucky because the color is, uh, sucky. It's like 6 parts gray, 3 parts piss, and, depending on the light, 1 to 2 parts poop after drinking grape soda.

Hey, cool chart!
It inspired me to make one, too. (c'mon Lou, it doesn't take long) The Corvette color was CSB (camel shit brown) according to my dad. It was a not very pretty tan color. . . tan exterior, tan interior. Not pretty, but hey, the car was in my price range when I was on the market in the middle of college. Big V8, RWD, sports car, t-tops. . . not to shabby for a broke college kid, especially since I had my Toyota as a back-up second vehicle. Apparently, I'm drawn to reds and maroons. Generally I like fun colors. The Miata was a "Garnet Red Mica" or metallic burgundy. The Toyota and Cherokee were basic reds (no metalic). And the K-car was also a burgundy but the paint was heavily oxidized so it was matte in appearance (hey, who knew I'd be ahead of the trend? ). Still love that Toyota pick-up. Fun rig to drive around in. Kind of "sporty" as such things went. 5 spd manual, IFS up front, 31x10.50 tires, and Toyota's excellent 22R 4 cyl. engine. Oh with a light bar up top and brush guard out front. It looked cool. And while not a lot of power it was easy enough to power slide on the mountain back road to and from camping spots. It was an awesome camping truck. Remembering that truck sometimes makes me think it'd be fun to get another Toyota 4x4 pick-up.
