That $70k M340i for the US market is now only built in Mexico too. Not that that really matters, I am just stating that they are no longer produced in Munich for the United States. Quote:
I’m not going to lie… I have struggled with having a vehicle that well exceeds the $100k mark and I fully connect with what you have stated above. Last edited by SCA; 04-25-2024 at 10:36 AM. |

I'm envious of you guys who can afford such high-performance, high-priced cars.
I believe that even IF I can afford a $100k car, I'd have a very difficult time paying for that price of admission. If anything, I'd have a "cap" of about $50k or so. I'd also have a Ducati and a custom bike. A diesel motorhome that can tow a trailer with a 'vert and a bike would also be in the mix. And I almost forgot a 25-foot Malibu wakeboard boat with the best audio sound system available. I'd most likely blow money by heading over this place every month and test drive all the exotics in their fleet. Must be nice to be rich ....

Now that the weather has been nicer for a while, just wondering if you're enjoying it more?

Not much difference from earlier comments, both good and bad. My biggest gripes for everyday driving are the noticeable downshifts and touchy brakes, which are compounded by the downshifting changing the amount of pressure required for braking at low speeds. Otherwise the car is what it is: an excellent luxury cruise missile. I look at it as though it is an AMG Mercedes. I think it's insane to consider it a sportscar and I cannot fathom people trying to make it sportier by tuning it using bigger wheels, etc. In fact, I wish it did the luxury thing a bit better, like a better ride and smoother (down)shifts. Looking forward to at some point putting in MPS's. |

Maybe it's a little odd, but this is a car that I find super cool and really wanted it to be a perfect fit for you. I enjoyed your search and perservation, was very excited when you found a unicorn (and a unicorn that I loved the spec of). It's one of the few cars here that I wanted to live vicariously through your ownership.
Can you set the transmission to comfort in sport individual mode to get rid of the downshifts? I had the issue on both our X5 as well as the Z4 we rented. I hate when an automatic tries to be a manual with downshifts while rolling to a stop. For both of those cars, setting the transmission to comfort made for an experience much more in line with my preference. On the tire note, last week I finally got rid of the PZeros on the 911 and went with Conti Extreme Contact Sport 2 (or whatever the name is of the DW replacement) and they are night and day better. I was very uncomfortable driving the 911 in any kind of imperfect weather with the P-Zeros even though they had plenty of tread. Now it feels much more sure footed, its quieter and has more total grip - it takes a lot to break the rear end loose. Hopefully you can get them swapped off the M5 soonish and see if that improves the experience.
