I’ve always assumed that the Great Recession had a big impact on 987.2/997.2 colors; fewer cars built, I assume fewer cars ordered with more being ordered for dealer stock, and maybe a greater reluctance to buy cars in flashy colors even for those that were ordered.

I don’t have any data on that beyond the small number of total cars built, but it all makes sense.

Yes, I believe that to be the case as well.

What do you think the reasoning is on non-GT 991 and 992s as the conservative exterior colors seem to extend them as well?

Based on the demographics of 911 buyers, it's not surprising most of the cars are painted in conservative colors.

I would get a GT car in a loud color for sure, but while I’d still search for a non-silver/grey/white/black regular 911, I can certainly understand going for a more sedate color. Ideally, a nice elegant metallic blue, dark red, etc. would be nice. But I have no problem with a GT silver 911 with a nice interior.

Agreed…

As one of my friends whom is a Porsche tech at the ATL factory service center has stated, “Only older, wealthy individuals can afford 992s.”

LOL. Is that true?

Majority of transactions that I see are men paying for the vehicle from their business. Which seems…..déclassé to me. Yes. I am judging.

They’re not all older wealthy people, is my point. They’re middle aged people who are subsidizing as a business expense. Which, if I was a client and knew this, I would not do business with such a person.

Hate to break it to everyone here, but middle aged = older

That why I thought this comment was interesting for that Porsche article

That being said, the normalish cars — Cayenne, Macan — they flow through the system and the people that need a payment of $900 versus $1,200, we can do that.
Never thought of a new Porsche buyer as a monthly payment type
