I’m generally amazed (always) at how quick the 911s can be for such low HP output from the engine.

I know a lot of that is rear engine placement, but we are talking cars that are solidly in the 4 second range. It’s pretty wild to me for cars that are well under 400hp.

This…

I am surprised how quick a base 997.2 is. Sure an S would have been my preference, but a base to drive occasionally around town and/or up to the mountains fits the bill just fine. Plus… it saved me a considerable amount of cash.

I think I could be perfectly happy with one of those--although, make mine a cabriolet.

My 997.1 was a base and I thought it was really fast, I think i’ve said this before but I wanted a base 991 but got so tired of waiting for the manual to be introduced (they at first only had PDK) when it finally was my dealer only had an S allocation which is the only reason why I have an S.

Also would not have Sports chrono but my dealer said that it was a must have option and would be good for resale which is why I ended up with it.

Sport Chrono with a manual is pretty much a waste, but everyone looks for it when buying used. Your dealer was probably right to push you that way.

What's the latest from BAT? I'm looking forward to living vicariously through your auction week.

Alan, then you probably would have really liked the 997.2 with the new engine, DI, and the bump in hp/tq.

How long had you been waiting?

I would have liked sports chrono, but it was not a deal breaker and now that I own one without I believe I prefer it without the “dash wart” as it is often called.

I can't complain about my 997.1... The power is all I would want. It is plenty to get me into trouble... more then would be more trouble. LOL

I am sure I would have been super happy with that engine.

As far as the wait basically when the 991 was released I wanted one and when they finally announced the manual was coming out (months later) I was in full out 'want one now' mode, I took delivery April 2012 so I am guessing about 6 months from 'want' to 'delivery'
