I'll be vaccinated by May 1 and will probably attend. Just posting in case anyone else has an interest.

Not sure if I ever mentioned that I have a friend that owns a Porsche dismantler in the UK (our families were seated together for dinner on our 2019 Disney cruise and whoever at Disney Cruises put together that seating chart did an amazing job as my wife and I became pretty good friends with him and his wife and their daughter and our daughters also still keep in touch). Anyway...

I thought this post his shop posted on Facebook today was interesting. It makes perfect objective sense that the car is worth more in parts than whole, but the idea that a 996 is already rusting away made me feel sad.

Yes, not much to mourn there, but crazy about the rust.

Agreed. It's the rust and I keep thinking it's not like it's an old car, but I guess it's 20ish years old, which...maybe is kind of old?

Just, growing up where all then-old Porsches (356s, 914s, 912s, pre-911SC 911s, etc) were suspect because of rust...and this car was built ~20 years after those impressions were formed? I don't know.

Everything in the UK is rusty. I'm not sure that I would read that much into it.
