I just looked at the VW website .... what is with the limited amount of colors available ... only 4 choices for the S model !?!?

I would just go with the SE model, the price difference is minimal and you get the headlights you want. Halogen headlights are terrible especially since you are probably used to having better headlights on your other cars.

I am surprised VW is still using the Halogens especially on an enthusiast car like the GTI.

Price is not an issue for us, but I would not call a $4k difference "minimal."

Agreed on offering halogens being dumb. Especially when it makes the car so different wiring and code-wise. Tying cloth seats to halogens is very stupid.

Yeah, the lack of options is really something!

Personally, an iron blue S is what I would get, I think. Headlights and fancy cornflower blue aren't worth 4K.

But we didn't get to leave the parking lot. I guess I can't blame the 112 degree day in Scottsdale
Are you sure that was in 2010? I did a very similar route in 2006 after picking up the car from the manufacturer, but by the time I got to your area I was fried. I'd been detoured and had to go hundreds of miles out of my way and used up planned rest days driving.

Yup - here you are.

Yep, it was 2006... Still thankful for that quick ride!

So FC, what about a GLI? Looks like it has LED lights on the S spec.

GLI is a good deal but you get lower quality interior and crappy seats.

My BIL just got one - MT too, and I got to drive it. Nice car, but the GTI is better and we want a hatch.
