And what becomes of these TLP folks in 6 months?? Do they create their own party?

They are dead in the eyes of the current Republican party

Yea, fair point. They’ve really put themselves out of favor w/ the current R party. I guess the question is, if Trump loses, what does the R party of 2022-2024 look like? Will Don Jr, Matt Gaetz, etc. carry the torch? Hawley/Cotton?Ben Sasse? If the party pivots, they could help pick up the pieces. If Trump 2.0 is the future, they’re done.

I am having trouble imagining a calmer/gentler/saner Republican Party emerging. I think the coalition of religious (largely christian but also a bit of orthodox, at least in my part of the world), rural, white, south & midwest, traditionalist, individualist, populist is here to stay. They'll look for a less terrible messenger than Trump but that voter bloc is not small.

Yea, I think that could happen. So what does that do to Dem party - stay closer to middle to keep the moderate/suburban voters that are less likely to go back to a Trumpian GOP? What about the pressure to go progressive? No clue how this all plays out.

I think of the Conways as a latter day Carville/Matalin couple. Albeit even more extreme. Wouldn’t have thought it possible...

Yeah - I (happily) live in a cave, but that one escapes me.

The Lincoln Project. A bunch of former republicans leading an Anti-Trump group.
