Did our first local PCA event last night. They set up a drive in movie and showed Ford vs Ferrari. It was good fun and everyone stayed at their cars at least 6ft from one and other

Setting the OBDII readiness monitors on a 993 is one of the most annoying aspects of working with them.

Unfortunately, because Porsche didn't really understand how it was supposed to work, they screwed up a few things:
1) The parameters are really tight. They loosened them up over the years, but the earlier the car, the harder it is. K's is a 3/95 production MY96 car. Normal driving will likely *never* set them.
2) Not that there ever were public updates, but MY96 DMEs can't be flashed.
3) Going back to not understanding how things are supposed to work, the car will not set ANY readiness monitors until ALL of them complete. Which means that you just have to drive cycle it, and hope. Worse, most states will allow some incomplete readiness monitors. Generally one for recent cars, and two for older cars. But you don't get that affordance because 993s won't set any.

Also, as a side note, man had I forgotten how much people *hate* this car on the road. In the E30 M3 and to a lesser extent, the E36, I get tons of leeway. No one likes the E90. But it's nothing like how people react to the 993.

The shape is unmistakable - everyone knows that it's expensive.

What's interesting is how much the E30 M3 seems to make people happy. Even when I'm amusing myself.

Edit: Also, every conversation about the E30 M3 includes an extremely inflated value. "Did you know that that's worth $70k?" (Sadly, not to people who have $70k to spend. I love it, but I'd take $70k for it any day.) People seem to have a bizarre idea of how expensive the E30 M3 is and they still love it.
