i3 as a commuter car for $150/month?
Happened to see this thread on leasehackr and it reminded me of how (potentially) cheap certain EVs can be to lease:
https://leasehackr.com/calculator?ma...acqWaiver=true At that price, seems like your total monthly cost (including electriciy and insurance) could be under $300. That has to be one of the cheapest overall running costs for a new car and rivals even running a used Corolla or something. Of course, the i3 has limited range and is fugly but at a certain price it kinda starts to make sense, no? I have driven them a few times and they're kind of fun (like any EV with the instant torque and regen). Also nice to sit higher up in a city-car. E golf is better looking but their lease rates are terrible w/ a super low residual. |

Still kind of smack myself for not taking advantage of the original deal on the new ones and didn't ever find ones in MD when I checked for the used ones. I think I'll be looking at the i3 options...

They are kind of tempting. I don’t need more cars, though.

Even at $150 a month I don't think I could be persuaded to drive one of those.

That is an incredible deal .. $150 a month for a car ... jeesh my Fios bill is more then double that ... actually so is my cell phone bill ... get one and have some fun plus that instant torque had got to be amazing !!
There is no doubt that car is certainly unique in a cool way !! |

My eGolf was $200 (loaded) which is why we got it. Insurance was expensive though, so keep an eye on that.

Yeah I think the i3 is expensive too owing to it’s carbon structure. I think the 200/month egolf days are gone sadly. The 3 year residual is in the 30s now and the money factor is high. So even with a significant discount it’s hard to make it work. |

In 2015, Honda was leasing Fit EVs for two years $199/mo, $199 down (first month's payment), unlimited miles, scheduled maintenance, and included collision coverage. That was a deal.
