Not quite at the same level, but I recall a comparable bimmerfest post about windshield wipers suggesting that anyone without automatic windshield wipers were jeopardizing the lives of everyone else because they would have to take a hand off a steering wheel to change the wiper speed while raining.

(Pretty sure I know who wrote it, but I can't find the post and could be wrong about it being that person and/or what they said, so I won't besmirch their name despite that person not having joined here.)
My god.

If you aren't capable of manually engaging the wipers when it rains, then you shouldn't be driving a car. Also, the automatic wipers always seem buggy to me.

I’ve come to really hate auto-wipers. Not because they aren’t nice some of the time, but because you lose manual intermittent function. The E46 intermittent wiper setup was wonderful, and I miss that in every other car.

I think it's the speed sensitivity feature that's so awful.

I’m fine with a speed based ramping up of wiper speed, but the problem is that the interval between wipes is always too short. I end up operating the wipers manually to limit chatter.

I find that they generally work OK in rain, but drizzle and snow can confound them. I agree with Nick--having a "normal" intermittent function is critical, in addition to rain sensing wipers.

The Tesla's rain sensing mode isn't great, but at least you can shut it off in favor of normal intermittent wipers.

My auto wipers work flawlessly.

I mean, I’m fine with cars that have manual wipers, but I don’t have a problem with the auto ones.

Intermittent wipers always wipe too frequently for me.
