boxster question
Boxster braintrust:
Any reason a good friend and co-worker should not buy this. (He is OK with a non-s and likes the tan interior so those reasons don't count). http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...44756827&Log=0

Don't see why not... 987.2 for under $30k
Tan is a plus in my book. Plus it has black floor mats, which is great.... Only thing to consider is warranty statue -- it's not cpo...

I told him to stay 2009+ because of the IMS stuff, and wanted to be sure i didn't screw up. He has an 07 s4 vert out of warranty now, I figured this is much less of a timebomb.

IMS was resolved in the '07 or '08 .1s -- new engines went in before the .2s
But the .2s had a lot of nice upgrades, in particular modernized audio systems. The base boxster in the .2s was a great deal -- almost as good as the .1 S

don't care much for autocheck, no data. So your buddy should spend the few dollars for a carfax.
Heck, if I was buying, I would even go to a Porsche dealer with the VIN and see what they know. And in a black car, the tan interior looks nice. But black sure is a bitch to deal with keeping clean

Looks like a nice car. Don't have any obvious dealbreakers. IMO the single tailpipe looks awful, but that's a relatively easy swap.

I will say it's been my experience that Porsche dealers won't tell you squat about service history, even after you own the car.

2.9 base boxster is a very fun car, it's actually very slightly torquier than the 2.7 base (2013-2016) and is geared better (but of course does not benefit from the 981 chassis and interior updates). I don't about the particulars of this car, but the 09-11 2.9 is a great choice.
